Systems Administrator

Job Location: Home based in an Asia Pacific time zone. Regular travel to Taiwan will be required
Job Summary: Part of the Information Systems team for Canonical Ltd, with responsibility for operational IT systems through out the company including Canonical's data centres and offices.
Reports To: Information Systems Manager

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• System administration of globally distributed Linux servers involving installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning and application support.

Key skills and experience:

• Systems administration experience and be used to handling a large number of machine
• IP networking
• Server Hardware
• Security (from network, through to operating system and application) skills
• Scripting (preferably Python and shell)
• Familiarity with Ubuntu or Debian
• Able to communicate clearly in English especially using email and instant messaging
• The ability to communicate in Mandarin is extremely desirable but not essential

Desirable skills and experience:

• Experience with asterisk PBX, apache, exim, iptables based firewalling.
• Experience with monitoring systems such as Nagios and Munin would also be advantageous
